Big Red lives in the same building I do. He's out front sitting in his scooter all the time. I've been wanting to get a shot of him for a while, but I knew it wouldn't be easy convincing him. After I told him over and over that I'm not making any money off of the photo he agreed. I wish that I would have gotten a better shot. The light was low and I only had my pop up flash. Maybe he'll let me take another one of these days.

"What do you think about God?"
That's the first thing Steve said to me. Found out that he's a father of two, husband of 29 years, muscle car guru, and a recovered heroin addict. He visits the city just to walk around and talk to people, and offered to take me anywhere downtown. Including the darkest parts of skid row. I'm not exactly sure how I feel about that. Creating a photograph out of others misfortune doesn't really seem right. Unless I have some purpose for it. Hopefully, I do see Steve again. I'd love to witness the conversations he starts around here.
